Yoga for Men Workshop

What is the Yoga for Men Workshop?
Yoga for Men Workshop is a series of open discussion, group activities and yoga class that is targeted toward men and men’s issues.  It is centered around yoga poses, pranayama and intentions specific to men’s work.  It is open to all men in all walks of life.  While every man is welcome, men engaged in a men’s group, therapy or a twelve step group may find it particularly helpful.
What are the goals of Yoga for Men Workshop?

The goal of the Yoga for Men Workshop is to introduce a man to a yoga practice that unifies the body, mind and spirit in ways that he may not have typically experienced it.  The practice helps a man get into his body to listen to what it is saying, tuning into his breath and breathing patterns.  The practice and study of yoga will provide a window into a man’s life that challenges him in different ways than he may have been exposed to before.

What are the themes of Yoga for Men Workshop?
There are several themes or benefits of Yoga for Men Workshop.  Yoga for Men Workshop will look at the following:
Setting a container for your space, safety and work.  How do you create safety in your life?  What goes into a strong container that promotes healthy boundaries, creates success and happiness in your life?
What is your mission?  Who are you?  Why are you here?  What is it you are called to do?  Each of us has a mission or calling in our lives.  What is your mission?  Do you know it?  Knowing your mission in life and fulfilling your mission brings peace, joy and fulfillment into your life and the lives of those around you
Exploring the 8 Limbs of Yoga.  What are the 8 limbs of yoga and how do they show up in your life?  Use the 8 limbs of yoga as a roadmap into your life and create calm, peace and happiness in your life
Yama and Niyama studies.  The first two limbs of traditional yoga are five Yamas and five Niyamas.  The Yamas and Niyamas describe social and emotional restraints for yoga students.  The Yamas and Niyamas are used by students to further emotional, physical and spiritual growth.

How long is the Yoga for Men Workshop series?
The Yoga for Men Workshop series has been designed as a 5-session workshop, meeting at regular intervals.  Each session will feature yoga practice as well as discussion on the topic of each month.  It is strongly encouraged that a session not be skipped, but based on availability there may be make-up classes for sessions.
What happens once a man completes the Yoga for Men Workshop series?
At the end of the Yoga for Men Workshop series it is hoped that men have gained:
A deeper connection with themselves.  A better understanding of what makes you work and how you can engage yourself in healthy ways when challenged physically, mentally and emotionally.
A desire to deepen their relationship to yoga and the benefits of the union of body, mind and spirit
Knowledge of their mission in life and an opportunity to work their mission in their lives
Tools to help promote better boundaries, communication and relationships in your life
A sense of calm, direction and purpose
A desire to share freely what was gained to others.  Creating a world where men protect the world by offering love, protection and guidance.

The Yoga for Men Workshop Series:
The cost for the entire series (5 classes) is $90.  Payment is preferred at the first scheduled session.  Class size will be limited to respect the men enrolled.
